If directory permissions on Ubuntu allow macmike to create a new file, and file permissions allow macmike to overwrite existing files, and these attempts fail, I'm guessing the problem is in proftp's daemon configuration. macmike needs write permission on the file, and execute permission on the file's directory, to transfer (overwrite) an existing file. macmike needs write permission on the directory to send a file that does not already exist. See if user macmike can transfer a file that already exists on the Ubuntu side. But user macmike can authenticate via Filezilla, correct? And user macmike cannot transfer a file via Filezilla, correct?

You could also try root, or other accounts, which may or may not work, depending on the configuration of the ssh daemon on Ubuntu. Or does it come from an interactive shell session for user macmike on OS X? I'm a bit confused as to where the error is coming from, and how you're trying to transfer the file when you see the error.Ĭan you post the exact error? Does the error come from ftp? If yes, check your ftp daemon's log file on Ubuntu. and I can't get in with FileZilla by trying to sign in as Root. I know I had to change permissions settings to get Word Press to work and that is when my user name Macmike started not being able to FTP with FileZilla.
